The company’s debut production is an independent web series adapted from a compelling literary work. Currently in Stage One, securing funding and adaptation rights, this project represents the launch of a lengthy creative journey designed to bring fresh voices and diverse perspectives to the screen.
Born and raised in Detroit, Whitney White is a creative entrepreneur whose career spans the non-profit sector, marketing, and the arts. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to social impact, creative storytelling, and building platforms that elevate diverse voices.
Whitney’s academic foundation began at Cass Technical High School in Detroit, followed by a diploma in Digital Media from Specs Howard College of Media Arts. She later completed the Entrepreneurship and Business Development Program at the BUILD Institute, equipping her with both the creative and business acumen to lead complex projects and bring ambitious ideas to life.
For more than a decade, Whitney dedicated her talents to the non-profit sector—five years in administrative roles and another five in marketing and communications. In these roles, she developed and executed strategic campaigns, strengthened community partnerships, and advanced the missions of grassroots and citywide organizations. Her ability to merge creativity with strategy became a hallmark of her career. Transitioning to the for-profit sector, Whitney applied these skills within a marketing agency, further sharpening her expertise in branding, campaign management, and audience engagement.
Beyond her professional career, Whitney is an artist in her own right. She has exhibited paintings with DMJ Studio and performed spoken word poetry with the Foluke-JATA dance company, demonstrating her versatility as both a visual and performing artist. These creative pursuits enrich her vision as a director and producer, grounding her work in authenticity and lived experience.
Today, as the founder of Riot Act Productions, Whitney is embarking on her directorial debut: adapting a compelling literary series into an independent web series. With a vision to create captivating stories, provide opportunities for emerging creatives, and expand the landscape of independent media, Whitney is committed to building a sustainable production company that champions both artistry and impact. Her background in non-profit infrastructure, marketing, and the arts positions her uniquely to deliver projects that are both creatively bold and strategically sound.
Whitney invites investors, grant makers, and creative collaborators to join her on this journey—supporting a company dedicated to telling powerful stories, creating meaningful opportunities, and shaping the future of independent media.
