Riot Act Productions (RAP) is an independent production company focused on discovering, developing, and building original stories with the potential to grow into lasting entertainment properties. RAP is being built around character-driven, visually compelling storytelling across film, television, digital media, and other formats.
RAP is interested in stories with strong characters, immersive worlds, emotional stakes, and the ability to build passionate audiences. That includes original concepts as well as overlooked books and existing stories that have strong potential for screen adaptation.
RAP was created from the belief that audiences are still hungry for stories they can genuinely get lost in; stories that make people care about the characters, talk about what happened, recommend them to friends, and stay connected long after the credits roll. RAP wants to build those stories while creating a company where creative vision, audience development, and smart production strategy work together.
Riot Act Productions was founded by Whitney White, a marketing and creative operations leader with a background in digital media and video production. RAP brings together her original interest in directing and visual storytelling with more than a decade of experience in marketing, creative strategy, project management, audience development, and building systems around creative work.
Both, and potentially more. RAP is being designed as a multi-format entertainment company rather than being limited to one type of production. Projects may eventually include scripted series, films, podcasts, digital content, and other extensions when they make sense for the story and its audience.
Books can offer something incredibly valuable: a fully developed story, characters readers already care about, and sometimes an existing community that wants to see that world brought to life. RAP is particularly interested in discovering compelling books that may have been overlooked by traditional Hollywood development.
No. Book adaptations are an important part of RAP's early strategy, but they are not the company's only focus. RAP ultimately plans to develop a mix of adapted and original intellectual property.
RAP is being built with audience development in mind from the beginning, not just after a project is finished. The goal is to identify stories with the potential to inspire genuine fandom, develop them thoughtfully, and build communities around those stories as they grow. RAP isn't interested in chasing franchises. We're interested in building them.
Riot Act Productions is a Florida-based company, but its projects are not limited to Florida. Production locations will be determined by the creative, logistical, and financial needs of each project, and RAP plans to collaborate with talent and creative professionals across markets.
The easiest way to start is by following Riot Act Productions and joining the community as RAP develops its first project. RAP will share company updates, development milestones, behind-the-scenes content, crowdfunding information, and future opportunities for creatives, partners, and supporters through its website and social channels. And if you want to give before the crowdfunding starts, click here.
40 Days To Riot is a 40-day countdown documenting the journey toward the launch of RAP's first crowdfunding campaign. RAP is using these 40 days to introduce the company, explain what we're building, share the process behind developing our first project, and invite people to become part of the journey early.
The October campaign is funding rights acquisition + the six-month development phase: RAP's first book-to-screen adaptation, including securing the necessary rights and supporting the initial development work required to begin moving the project from book to screen. A detailed breakdown of how campaign funds will be used will be included on the official crowdfunding page.
The campaign is currently planned to launch on October 24, 2026, following the 40 Days to Riot social media campaign. RAP will share the official campaign link and final details as launch day approaches.
We're doing both, crowdfunding and also reaching out to investors. Not studios, because we're an independent production company. Crowdfunding gives RAP an opportunity to do more than raise money. It allows us to demonstrate that there is an audience interested in the story and in the kind of company we're building. It also gives supporters an opportunity to participate at a much earlier stage than they normally would with a traditionally developed film or series.
5. Do I need to wait until October 24 to support RAP?
Nope! You can give here OR one of the most valuable things you can do during 40 Days to Riot is help us build awareness: follow RAP, subscribe, share the campaign with someone who loves books or film, comment on our content, and help introduce the project to a larger audience. Those actions can make a meaningful difference before crowdfunding even begins.
RAP plans to offer multiple reward levels so supporters can choose how they want to participate. Final rewards and pledge levels will be announced closer to launch and listed on the official campaign page. Rewards may include digital content, behind-the-scenes access, project-related items, recognition, and opportunities that bring supporters closer to the development process.
No. The upcoming campaign is reward-based crowdfunding, not an equity investment. Backing the campaign does not provide ownership, equity, profit participation, or investment rights in Riot Act Productions or its productions. Supporters are helping make a creative project possible and may receive rewards associated with their pledge level.
Thanks for your interest in becoming an investor! Please contact us here and we'll contact you right away.
If RAP launches the campaign on Crowdfundr.com as planned, RAP would only receive the amount of funds given by the campaign deadline.
No. This campaign is focused on a specific early stage of the project, not financing the entire eventual production. Successfully completing the rights acquisition and development phase would give RAP a stronger foundation for the work that follows, which may include: writing, packaging, additional fundraising or financing, pre-production, production, post-production, marketing, and distribution.
If the campaign is successfully funded, that's when the next chapter begins. RAP will move into the funded acquisition and development work, fulfill applicable backer rewards, and continue sharing meaningful updates about the project's progress. Crowdfunding is not the finish line for the project. It's intended to help us reach the starting line with the resources and community needed to begin building it.
